Golovin's ColumnThe monument was erected in the second half of the 19th century after the death of merchant of the First Guild Alexei Golovinsky in commemoration of his merits to the city. Initially, the monument was placed on the site of the former Staritsa outpost, afterwards it was relocated to a new place between the Tmaka River bridges. After restoration the monument was placed on the coast of the Tmaka River opposite to the Protection of Virgin Church.
Monument to victims of political repressionsIt was erected in the center of the city in the mini park in the Sovetskaya Street. Opened on October 30, 1997. Sculptor F. A. Azamatov.
Monument to G. K. ZhukovThe monument to Marshal of the Soviet Union was erected on the square in front of the military academy. Opened on May 6, 1995. Authors: E. A. Tatishvili (Konakovo), V. I. Vinnichenko (St. Petersburg). Creators of the architectural solution of the square are artists and architects from Tver V. A. Davydov and S. N. Semenov.
Monument to M. I. KalininThe monument was erected in commemoration of our fellow-countryman and state leader Mikhail Ivanovich Kalinin. It was opened in 1955, which coincided with the 20th jubilee of establishment of Kalinin Region. The most ancient Savior Transfiguration Cathedral known all over Russia was located there before the revolution and in the first years of the Soviet power (it was blown up in 1935). The author of the monument to M. I. Kalinin is sculptor S. N. Popov.
Monument to Mikhail KrugIt was opened on June 25, 2007, on the eve of an anniversary of the tragic death of our fellow-countryman singer M. Krug. Sculptors - A. Smirnov and V. Tsyganov.
Monument to I. A. KrylovThe monument to fable writer M. I. Krylov was erected in the mini park between two bridges over the Tmaka River. Opened on August 14, 1959. Sculptor S. D. Shaposhnikov, Sculptor animalist D. V. Gorlov, architect N. V. Donskikh.
Monument to V. I. LeninIt was erected on the Lenina Square on January 22, 1926. Sculptor S. D. Merkulov During the Great Patriotic War the monument was broken. The sculptor gave a temporary finished head of Lenin made of concrete to our city. On November 7, 1942, the monument to Lenin was opened again. Seventeen years later, sculptors V. P. Barkov and P. V. Kenig created a new monument to V. I. Lenin. It was opened in January, 1959, and remained on the Lenina Square until now.
Monument to K. MarxIt was erected in the Sovetskaya Street near the grating of the Municipal Garden. The bust of K. Marx was made of concrete supposedly by sculptors B. V. Lavrov or A. A. Simkunas. After destruction of the monument by unknown persons in 1991 the sculptural portrait of K. Marx was restored by specialists of the All-Union Scientific and Restoration Center headed by restoration artist A. S. Antonov. After the restoration the original monument could not stay outdoors due to the numerous restoration cementation points. The pedestal of the monument was repaired in 1997 and a precise copy of the bust of K. Marx cast of concrete was erected. The original bust remained in storage in the Tver regional picture gallery. The copy was made by artists of the studio of sculptor E. A. Antonov from Tver. In 2004, the monument was restored again by restoration artists from Tver A. G. Komlev and A. V. Kurakov.
Monument to A. S. PushkinThis monument was erected in the Municipal Garden on the coast of the Volga River in 1974. Sculptor O. K. Komov, architects N. I. Komova and V. A. Frolov.
The bust of A. S. PushkinThe bust of poet A. S. Pushkin was erected in 1972 in the Teatralny Passage. Sculptor E. F. Balashova, architect E. A. Rozenblum with participation of V. A. Frolov and S. A. Semenova
Monument to Saltykov-ShchedrinOpened on January 26, 1976. It was erected on the Tverskaya Square. It was built with regard to celebration of the 150th jubilee of the birthday of the prominent satiric writer. Sculptor O. K. Komov, Architect N. A. Kovalchuk.
Monument to Sergei Yakovlevich LemeshevIt was erected in the Trekhsvyatskaya Street. Opening of the monument was timed to the 105th anniversary of the birthday of the great tenor. The author of the monument is sculptor Andrei Balashov. The height of the monument is slightly more than a meter.
Victory ObeliskThe memorial center is located on the left coast of the Tmaka River at its confluence into the Volga River. The monument was opened on December 16, 1970, on the 29th anniversary of liberation of Kalinin from the Nazi invaders. Sculptors I. M. Rukavishnikov and A. N. Filippova, architects N. N. Milovidov, T. E. Saevich, engineers B. S. Kadik, M. S. Shumilova This is the Victory Monument in the form of a 48-meter column crowned with a torch cup. Its base is a ferroconcrete foundation decorated with four rostrums similar to pages of an open book. There is a bas-relief and a text that speaks about heroism and self-sacrifice of the warriors and workers of the home front on it.
Monument to Mikhail Yaroslavich TverskoyOpened in the center of Tver in the Sovetskaya Square in 2008. The author of the composition – sculptor Andrei Kovalchuk. The monument is made of bronze and is mounted on a pedestal made of light gray granite on which there is a belt in the form of an Orthodox Christian ornament and a bronze shield. The composition represents a statue of Mikhail Tverskoy on a horse with a height of 8.5 meters. The monument was consecrated by Metropolitan of Krutitsk and Kolomna Yuvenaly.
